Nicki Woodhead

Nicki is Head of Sustainability for WHSmith (one of the UK’s leading retailers made up of two core businesses – Travel, which operates over a thousand units in the UK and abroad in airports, stations, motorway service areas and hospitals; and High Street which operates six hundred stores in high streets across the country). Her role includes managing environmental issues – such as climate change, waste and single use plastics; people issues such as ethical trade and human rights in the supply chain; and charity work with partners tackling challenges around literacy and education. Prior to WHSmith, Nicki worked for Vodafone for 15 years, setting up the first sustainability programme for the UK business, and then in an international role leading on energy, climate change and resource management in support of the company’s sustainable business strategy. She started her career with ten years in consultancy, after a science degree. She is passionate about how business can make a lasting difference to people’s lives and how it can support tackling many of the challenges the world faces today. Outside of work, she has three children and loves trekking up hills and taking photos.
