Widening gaps in attainment and unequal access to activities in and out of school have created a double disadvantage for young people from less affluent backgrounds
Half of young people in state schools do not have access to work experience, yet this is used a third of the time to assess applications to universities
Negative preconceptions and lack of awareness of the value of enrichment activity and work experience are hidden barriers for young people with limited social and cultural capital
