Get IntoTech with our exciting programme
Futures For All has partnered with The Hg Foundation to deliver a programme of high-impact interventions for young people in state secondary schools and colleges to encourage them to consider a career in the UK technology sector. Together, we are excited to offer career-focused 1-hour inspirational talks, 3-5-hour introductory Insight Days and multi-day work experience with influential professionals and leading employers.
Ways to get involved

Inspirational and career talks
A whole year group will receive a 1-hour talk and Q&A with a high-profile speaker focused on tech. This talk will:
-
Signpost pathways into careers in tech.
-
Have a similar set-up to an assembly.

Insight Days
Selected students will get the chance to attend a 3-5-hour remote or in-person introductory Insight Day led by an employer. This session will:
-
Help students to get a clear understanding of tech roles and skills.
-
Highlight the pathways which lead to different careers.

Work experience
A selected number of students will get the chance to attend a multi-day in-person or remote work experience – lasting up to 4-hours-per-day and including a lunch break. This placement will:
-
Be an interactive and immersive opportunity to learn in depth about careers in tech
-
Allow the employer to showcase their organisation and the roles they offer
-
Boost confidence and skills, and add a high-quality experience to their CV

Mentoring
Plus, there is the possibility of getting mentoring to help with early career planning and to give a boost to their prospects. This is allocated at random, and only certain schools will benefit. Please refer to our evaluation guidelines.
Exciting opportunities await
During our pilot year, IntoTech schools had the chance to access introductory Insight Days with leading employers such as Spotify, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Kainos, and talks with influential professionals including the Chair and CEO of Framestore and the Global Vice President, Innovation at Mastercard.

Why careers in tech matter
3 million
are employed in the UK tech sector, with an annual worth of $1 trillion dollars.
Only 29%
of tech employees are women, showing a lack of diversity in the UK sector.
Only 9%
are employed from less privileged backgrounds, lacking a diversity of talents.
1 in 3
open vacancies in the technology sector are down to a lack of digital skills.
Programme evaluation
Over the 3-4 years, the programme will be evaluated by an independent partner, to measure long term impact and outcomes, as well as enabling us to share learnings and make improvements. You can view the evaluation guidelines for more information.
