Baroness Sally Morgan became Fitzwilliam College’s ninth Master on 1 October 2019
Sally Morgan was born and went to school in Liverpool. She became a peer in 2001, was Director of Government Relations in 10 Downing Street until 2005 and was Minister for Women and Equalities.
She has always been very involved in education, and since 2005 has been Chair or advisor to charities serving disadvantaged young people including ARK, Ambition Institute and Frontline. She is currently a trustee of the Education Policy Institute.
In January 2025 she was appointed Chair of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Sally serves on the Cambridge University Council. She sits on the advisory board of the Centre for Science and Policy and the boards of the Bennett Institute of Public Policy.
