Senior UK diplomat, currently serving in the UK. HM Ambassador to Russia (Jan 2020 to November 2023), Director-General & member of FCO Board (2014-2019), HM Ambassador to Zimbabwe (2011-2014), FCO Director & G8 negotiator 2008-2011). Previously posted to Russia as Economic Counsellor (2002-2005), European Commission as Member of Commissioner Neil Kinnock’s Cabinet (1995-1999) and UK Representation to the EU (1991-1993). MA in Political Economies of Russia and Eastern Europe (SSEES/UCL) & BSc (Hons) in Mathematics (Bristol). Attended Featherstone Comprehensive in Southall, Middx. Married with 2 sons. Interests include running and politics.
