Gary Newby

Gary Newby is News Editor and occasional Programme Editor at ITV News Central. He is a member of its management team and is an ITV News Inclusion & Diversity Champion. In the latter role he strives to ensure its output reflects and celebrates the people, places and events which make up the region's ethnic, religious and cultural diversity, and the newsroom team is representative of the communities it serves.

He has been a journalist for more than 30 years and joined ITV in 2001 after working at a newspaper in his home city of Leicester and with a Midlands-based news agency. Gary lives near Leicester and is a regular contributor to a magazine which celebrates the city's diverse culture and heritage. He supports the city's annual Curry Awards as its Chief Judge and was the Judge for last year’s inaugural Black History Awards in Leicester.
