Hamed Amiri

Hamed Amiri was born in Afghanistan under Taliban rule before fleeing with his family to the UK as a ten-year-old refugee. His bestselling memoir, The Boy With Two Hearts, tells the extraordinary true story of their journey to safety while caring for his terminally ill brother, Hussein. The book went on to be adapted for the stage, receiving standing ovations in Cardiff, London and internationally.

His second book, The Other Boy, introduces his story to a new generation of readers, continuing his mission to help young people better understand empathy, belonging and the power of seeing the world through someone else's eyes.

At school, Hamed struggled to find where he belonged and even failed his A Levels. Rather than letting those setbacks define him, they became the turning point that shaped his future. Today, he works in technology leadership at PwC, is an award-nominated author and speaker, and has inspired audiences across schools, universities and organisations throughout the UK.
