Phil Critchlow OBE

CEO & Founding Director of multi award winning content and events agency, TBI Media. www.tbimedia.co.uk Phil has developed and delivered some of the highest profile projects across multiple genres and media platforms in the UK and internationally.  As well as leading significant factual output he has a personal specialisation in music & entertainment based events, from prime time shows for BBC & Commercial television, to cutting edge specialist output for BBC & Commercial Radio. As such he’s worked directly with some of the worlds highest profile performers and presenters in some of the most iconic locations. He has a specialism working with brands to deliver live, broadcast and digital content to help them fully engage with the biggest audiences possible.

He began as a BBC trainee. After production across the corporation he moved to Unique Broadcasting rising to Director Of Programmes & overseeing production across thousands of hours of output. During his time on the management team the company was listed on AIM.

On incorporating TBI on 2006 Phil said : ‘When I started in the industry it was clear that things were going to change, but the revolution has proved to be more profound than we could ever have imagined. One thing that remains constant though is the need for great content. Every media platform, venue and brand needs bold and ambitious ideas – that’s what we’re in business to provide’. TBI will produce hundreds of programmes this year, for television, radio and as podcasts and deliver a huge variety of events globally. The company has over 250 awards for creativity including New York Festivals ‘Indie Of The Year’ for 7 years running.

Industry roles have included Founding Director and Chair of Audio UK. This involved liaison with the most senior figures in broadcasting and Government. Executive board positions and advisory roles include, or have included the Department for International Trade Creative Industries Trade Advisory Group' ‘The Educational Recording Agency’, ‘Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club’, ‘Classic Gold Networks’ ‘The Wavendon All Music Foundation’ Phil is an Industry Champion for the Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre.

Phil is Fellow of the Radio Academy, was given a Lifetime Achievement award for services to broadcasting in 2018 and was awarded an OBE for ‘Services to Radio and Television’ in the 2021 Queens New Year Honours list.
