How do we empower the future workforce now?
UK Construction Week in London is a key event for the construction sector as industry leaders descend on the Excel Centre from 12th-14th May, to share best practices and new innovations. The industry will meet to tackle big topics like how to deliver large scale infrastucture projects, how to meet the demands of the housing crisis and how to manage all of this whilst operating in a sustainable environment.
As an official partner, Futures For All will be speaking at the event, looking at one key issue that underpins all these themes, how do you build the workforce of tomorrow? Like many other industries, construction is a sector that is facing a growing skills gap. Through our programmes we have always worked to create pathways for young people to build meaningful careers and it is through these learnings that we're delivering a special panel at the conference.
Building the Future Workforce
On the 14th of May at 11:45, at the Culture Change and Skills Hub, our Business Development Manager, Jess Hart, is hosting a panel discussion on how organisations can better engage with young people to support career development, whilst also supporting a business's productivity. She will be joined by other advocates who are striving to create a thriving and diverse construction workforce:
Faith Abudu, Director, Diversity and Inclusion in Construction Fiona Henderson, Director of Social Value, Mace Group
Prince Sithole, Engineering Manager, Jackson Civil Engineering
Whether you're interested in hearing how your business can engage with young in a meaningful way or curious to understand how interaction with young people from an early age can support the growth within the sector, this is a panel not to be missed.
What are your experiences?
This topic of the widening skills gap is an important theme and will have a key impact on the construction sector for decades to come. Recognising its importance, UK Construction Week have also asked us to deliver a roundtable around 'Closing the Construction Skills Gap'. We're keen to facilitate conversation with people from across the sector to learn about their own experiences entering the workforce or how they are already engaging with young people.
Please come and say hello 14th Thursday, May at 13:45, learn from your peers and take away tangible changes you can make to your workplace to achieve real change.
