Alison Lomax Launches IntoTech Talks: Unlocking Careers in Tech for Young People

Real-world Insights Into Tech Careers

With the tech industry continuing to grow and evolve, there’s so much scope for future careers. That’s why Futures For All have partnered with The Hg Foundation to encourage young people to consider careers in the UK technology sector.
Alongside work experience opportunities for young people in state secondary schools and colleges, the IntoTech programme offers inspirational talks with influential professionals and leading employers.
In June 2026, students from Marriotts School in Stevenage were excited to be joined by Alison Lomax, Managing Director for YouTube UK and Ireland. Alison’s talk gave a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to work in tech, showcasing the careers behind the world’s largest video-sharing platform, and the breadth of opportunities the sector continues to offer. Alison shared valuable industry insights, knowledge and advice as she reflected on her career journey to senior leadership, including the challenges she overcame along the way. As someone who built a successful career without a tech background, Alison’s message was clear: tech careers are for everyone.
Talks like these help to demystify industries, challenge stereotypes, and broaden young people’s career aspirations – setting them up for future success.
