Bringing Tailored Inspiration to Young People: Private Broadcasts for Multi-Academy Trusts

The Power of Inspiration

Inspiration can have a lasting-impact on a young person’s life and career – and a talk that sparks curiosity may be that moment for them. Our Speakers for Schools programme gives young people access to life lessons, industry insights and career advice from our network of more than 1,500 professionals, with flexible ways for schools and speakers to connect – from in-person talks to online broadcasts and a library of recordings.

For Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs), this includes private broadcasts tailored to their schools. With greater flexibility to explore topics that are relevant to students, and at times that work across the trust, we’re giving more young people access to inspiration and helping them explore what’s possible for their future. Talks can be shaped around students’ interests, a MAT’s themed day or week, a curriculum focus, or tied to wider awareness months and celebrations, such as Pride or Black History Month.

During the 2025/2026 academic year, we hosted 8 online broadcasts for 5 different MATs across the UK, some of which have schools in multiple regions. 9151 students engaged in total.

A Look Into Our MAT Broadcasts

Dr Charmaine Griffiths and Ormiston Academies Trust

In March 2026, Dr Charmaine Griffiths, Neuroscientist and Chief Executive of British Heart Foundation (BHF) delivered a fascinating broadcast for Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT). With attendance from 3,089 young people across 12 schools and a student rating of 9 out of 10, the talk successfully launched OAT’s National Careers Week (NCW) programme and catered to the strong interest in science across the trust.

Charmaine delivered an inspiring presentation about her career journey from school to CEO of the UK’s largest independent funder of cardiovascular research, before concluding the session with a live Q&A. Charmaine highlighted the importance of soft skills and education in her success, and how both can help students open doors to STEM careers. She also spoke about the value of scientific research in our society, with so much work still to be done – and so many opportunities for the next generation to play a part, leaving students feeling empowered about future careers in science.

From a social mobility perspective, that will really resonate with many of our students, particularly as OAT has ten secondary schools in the Midlands. The photo of her school was a powerful touch, helping students see someone like themselves achieving such success and showing that, with hard work, they too can aspire to dream careers.”

Bobby Seagull MBE and Four Stone Gateway Trust

In May 2026, Author, FT Columnist, Podcaster, TV Broadcaster and Schools Maths Teacher, Bobby Seagull MBE gave a talk to 1,600 students from 4 schools across Four Stones Gateway Trust to celebrate National Numeracy Day.

Bobby spoke about his love of maths and teaching, and reflected on his many roles, sharing how being curious and open to opportunities has taken his career in various directions. He encouraged students to consider their own futures, as well as their relationship with maths, emphasising its use every day outside of school and work. The talk, therefore, challenged common misconceptions around maths and demonstrated how numeracy skills can open up new possibilities in life and careers – delivering exactly what the trust had hoped for.

Students valued Bobby’s real-world insights and reflections, as well as the chance to ask questions in the closing Q&A – while staff appreciated the opportunity to connect students with an inspiring role model in the world of maths.

Taking Inspiration Further

Following the success of Charmaine’s and Bobby’s broadcasts, both OAT and Four Stones Gateway Trust are excited to host more bespoke broadcasts for their schools. We look forward to supporting all the MATs we’ve worked with this academic year during the year ahead – and welcome new interest, too.
